Brandon Swaby, Westbury, NY | Syosset Truck Sales Inc

International Trucks Technicial of Influence Winner Brandon Swarby

SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Brandon's dream has always been to be a technician. Since his first day working with Syossett Trucks, he has been nothing but excellent. He is eager to learn and work on anything and everything we have; he does not shy away from any task. He is not only learning how to perform tasks but has already shown that once he does a job, the next time around he's considerably more efficient and can get the customer back to their truck much more quickly.

Brandon has gone the extra mile time and time again, not only repairing and helping talk customers through work that was completed but also helping deliver trucks back to customers in a pinch. He has never complained about helping and always looks for ways he can contribute more to the company and our customers.

Brandon is new and wants to work on anything that rolls in, and he tackles work head-on, getting services done well in advance and moving right on to the next one. Prepared and knowledgeable, Brandon pushes work out of the shop sometimes faster than we can get it in. He works neatly and therefore efficiently. His work ethic is contagious and spreads through the shop, making everyone work a little more upbeat and driving the repair work.

Brandon's dream has always been to be a diesel technician at a dealership. He lives locally and has been applying for this position for multiple years. He was finally at the point where we were able to bring him in and begin working with him. All that can be said is that I wish we had hired him the first day he applied. He is what is needed to help a business grow and he's only getting better as time goes on.

David Labs, Omaha, NE | Cornhusker International

International Trucks Technician of influence winner David Labs

SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Dave started with Cornhusker International Trucks, Inc. right out of college. Over his 16 years with the company, he has become a master of the trade and the go-to tech for many one-off and difficult repairs. We have technicians call in from our other locations to discuss repair issues with Dave because they trust and value his technical advice. Dave is a leader in the shop and the go-to when another tech needs advice on repairs. His devotion to the trade and desire to be the best are why other techs come to him for advice. He sets the standards for all techs to emulate.

We had a customer bring a unit into our facility, having a hard time figuring out how to wire a PTO system into it. Dave took it upon himself to spearhead this project and work with other techs to wire in a program for the system to operate like the customer wanted.

Dave is up to date on his training and is always looking for ways to improve as a tech and increase his efficiency. He is consistently over 100% in his efficiency.

Dave is an instructor at Metro College and teaches engine overhaul. He has been instrumental in training the next generation of technicians coming into the field. We are lucky to have him!

Darren Moreau, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario | Rush Truck Centres of Canada

International Trucks 2023 Technicial of Influence winner employee Darren Moreau

LEAD SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Darren has been our lead tech for the past 2 years, starting on the floor as an apprentice. His excellent attitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail helped propel him into a leadership position at Rush Truck Centres of Canada |  Sault Ste. Marie. Because of his punctual nature along with his sense of urgency and willingness to help, Darren has become a go-to for many of our customers and coworkers. He has instilled confidence in our customers that when Rush Truck Centres is given the job, it will get done right the first time.

Darren is a walking definition of going the extra mile with everything he does for our customers and coworkers. He has gone above and beyond to ensure timely repairs for customers in the shop while making certain his team maintains our repair standards, while taking time to teach along the way. Darren epitomizes what responsibility and trust mean to our customers, and our customers agree. In speaking with different clients, one common denominator that consistently comes up is Darren Moreau — customers are always positively commenting on how Darren will regularly take the time to explain to them their issues and what he did to rectify them. More specifically, we had a technician call in sick one evening and Darren took it upon himself to close out the shift, staying 3 hours past his regularly scheduled shift. On top of that, as Darren was closing up shop, we had a walk-in for an air leak. Without hesitation, Darren put his coveralls back on and got the customer back on the road that night.

Technicians like Darren make my job as a general manager so much easier knowing that when a client comes to us with a problem, I can confidently put it in Darren's hands, knowing it will be looked after with the highest standards. Darren is routinely our biggest producer in the shop. He understands that the work that comes into our shop is our customers' livelihood and downtime cost them revenue. With this in mind, Darren routinely tackles jobs with the goal being to get that unit back to work ASAP.

Darren lives and breathes Rush Truck Centres. He frequently takes time out of his days to stop by the shop and check in with the techs on shift — often donning a pair of coveralls to lend a hand or help diagnose units to support our customers and colleagues.
